The Meade family consists of father Bradford (Alan Dale), a deep man with a account of infidelity; mother Claire (Judith Light), an alcoholic who serves as a mother figure for Betty and a equate for Wilhelmina; and older sister Alexis (Rebecca Romijn), a macho to female homosexual who has a contentious relationship her father and brother. Bradford exits the show during its second season; both Christina and Alexis leave during the third season.
