Learning From the Masters

I am currently in my first year in University studying film direction. I have discovered my love for films way back and I am so grateful to finally fulfil my dream of one day making my own film. I long to one day watch my masterpiece in the theater and eat popcorn while I nervously wait for the people to tell what they think about it.

It will take much longer before that happens. So for now I would have to learn all I can in school. Part of the many gruelling tasks we have to do is to watch films. To be able to learn about films, we have to study the masters and so we scrutinize their work and analyze what they have done.

My professors say that we are definitely luckier than they were. In the past, to be able to watch films, they had to go to the theater or rent movies in stores. Those activities cost so much money. So apart from equipment expenses, they had to set aside some budget to be able to fulfil all the other tasks they had to do. They say we are luckier now because we have the magnificent option of downloading films online. Online movies are very convenient because they are free. As long as I have internet connection, I can watch all the movies I want.

Movies are my passion. I can spend hours watching movies from the past and those that were done today. One day, I will get the chance to show my masterpiece to the world. But for now, I will have to learn how to make masterpiece.
