When the government mandated the much-delayed switch from analog to HDTV or digital broadcasting, how did it affect the signal reception of your TV? For the better, actually. Instead of suffering from poor image quality from the reception that your over-the-air antenna gets, the digital signal that it will now receive will be of much higher quality. There’s none of those snowy or blurry images that were so common with the analog television.

You just need to know which type of antenna to purchase for your HDTV. If you live far from a television station, you might need an outdoor antenna. If you live near the television station’s transmitters, however, an indoor, non-amplified antenna will do. You can take your pick from UHF or VHF antennas, or one which captures both signals. At the end of the day, the switch that the government implemented from analog to digital is something which definitely improves local TV viewing for the better, especially if you have an HDTV.
